Rangers Ibrox record for 2014/15

Championship: W10, D5, L3

Play-off: W1, D1, L1

Scottish Cup: W1, D0, L1

League Cup: W 2, D0, L0

Petrofac Training Cup: W2, D0, L0

IT honestly wasn't so long ago when teams would turn up to Ibrox with one single hope, which was to avoid a real going over.

These days must seem an eternity ago to those Rangers supporters who have watched their side struggle so badly on their own patch this season.

Putting the Championship and play-off matches together, Rangers have played 21 times at Ibrox, won 11, lost four and drew six.

There are many reasons why Stuart McCall's side are staring at another year out of the top flight but their record of just over a 50 per cent home win rate is one of the major factors.

The home Scottish Cup defeat to Raith Rovers also badly hurt but it was in the league, and now against Motherwell in the final play-off, where it really hits home, as it were, how average they have been.

Four of the worst

Sunday, August 10

Rangers 1, Hearts 2

The first league game of the season hinted at what was to come. It set down a marker for both teams.

Despite Nicky Law scoring a last-minute equaliser, there was still time for Osman Snow to get a winner for the visitors in added time.

Hearts never looked back after this Rangers never looked like winning the league.

Monday, September, 29

Rangers 1, Hibernian 3

This was as bad as it got. At least until now. Alan Stubbs's team out-passed and out-classed Rangers on their home turf.

They were 3-0 up after 39 minutes. Rangers did not get a kick. This was probably the beginning of the end for Ally McCoist because his team were a clear second best and his tactics were questioned by every fan.

Saturday, March 14

Rangers 1, Livingston 1

This was McCall's first game in charge and if he didn't know the task that faced him before, then he sure did after this display.

At the time, Livingston looked doomed, were bottom of the table, and more than deserved their point.

Rangers followed this up with a home draw with Alloa.

Thursday, May 28

Rangers, 1, Motherwell 3

Ibrox was full for the first time all season. Some of those supporters began to drift away after Motherwell's third goal just after half-time.

Stuart McCall's men may still turn this final around, but they looked well short of the second worst team in the Premiership in this first-leg play-off final.

Darren McGregor's late goal at least gives Rangers something to believe in.

And two good ones...

Tuesday, October 28

Rangers 1, St Johnstone 0

A late winner by Lewis McLeod gave his team victory over one of the top tier's in-form sides.

It might not have been pretty, however, this was one day when group of player which at the time were coming in for a bit of stick, gave their fans something to cheer about.

Wednesday, May 20

Rangers 2, Hibernian 0

The only reason Rangers have any chance to making it back to the Scottish Premiership is because of this result and performance in the play-off semi-final.

They allowed Hibernian plenty of possession and made them pay for their lack of guile up-front with clinical goals from Nicky Law and Kenny Miller.

It was supposed to be the win that turned everything around.
