Aberdeen defender is cleared to play after appeal is upheld

THE Scottish Football Association's judicial panel have opted to rescind the red card shown to Aberdeen's Russell Anderson at Inverness last weekend.

The decision means the defender will now be available to face Motherwell on Sunday.

Craig Brown, the Pittodrie manager, was concerned that Anderson's dismissal by referee George Salmond, who judged that the player had fouled Inverness Caledonian Thistle's Shane Sutherland in the penalty area, would have precipitated a re-shuffle of his defence because of a suspension.
