Scott Allan believes his Rangers counterparts will view today's trip to Easter Road as "an escape" from the turmoil behind the scenes at Ibrox.

The Hibernian midfielder lived through the financial nightmare at Portsmouth during a loan spell in 2012, where he fought for survival in the Championship following the club's descent into administration.

He used to welcome the opportunity to forget about off-the-field concerns for 90 minutes during his time at Fratton Park - and he reckons the Rangers players will be similarly energised.

Allan said: "I know a few of the boys at Rangers, like David Templeton, Lewis Macleod and Kyle Hutton. "When you're at a big club like Rangers you just need to get on with the job and produce performances for the fans, regardless of the situation. From my experience at Portsmouth, I found that the football would be the one thing that would take you away from all the off-field stuff that was going on. It was a good chance to go and have your say on the pitch and I'd imagine it will be the same for the Rangers players." Allan was strongly linked with a switch to Govan in the summer, but insists his mind was made up after listening to Alan Stubbs' plans for the club.

"A move to Rangers was talked about, but as soon as I spoke to the gaffer here, it was a no-brainer to come to here."
