Dundee have finally reached an agreement with the American-based consortium to inject £1.5m into the club, with the formalities likely to be concluded within the next 24 hours.

The approach from the Texas-based group appeared to be in the balance at the start of last week when Tim Keyes flew to London to revive a deal that stalled because of boardroom division. However, Dundee FC Supporters' Society, who own 51% of the club's shares, are satisfied with the assurances given by the investors about the long-term running of the club.

"It's something like forty days since the first offer was made," said Scot Gardiner, the Dundee chief executive. "It's been a drawn-out process. We're just awaiting some final information coming through. As John Nelms put it, there have been a lot of road-works but fingers crossed we're nearly there."
