Dunfermline Athletic administrator Bryan Jackson has told the club's supporters that he shares their frustration over the secrecy of the second takeover bid.

Fans' group Pars United, backed by Sir Alex Ferguson, have tabled an offer to become the East End Park side's new owners but face competition to be named preferred bidder from another group, who want to remain anonymous.

With fans fearing that former owner Gavin Masterton, whose mismanagement of the club effectively drove it into administration, is involved with the mystery bidders, the Pars Supporters' Trust have pleaded with them to reveal their identities.

Jackson, who is also the Hearts administrator, is set to announce the club's preferred bidder late this week.

He said: "Hopefully, we will have a preferred bidder out of the two. It's been frustrating that one bidder wants to remain confidential and I'm not happy about it, but I have to respect it.

"Of course, it makes fans very suspicious and I appreciate that, but they have to appreciate that I have to keep confidentiality if that is a condition."

"I've got meetings with both interested parties to go through the conditions, some of which are not acceptable. We really have to identify one quickly because we have a provisional date for our CVA meeting on July 12."

A potential takeover of Dunfermline is far from straightforward, with the company that controls the stadium also in administration.

Jackson added: "The added complication we have is that the administrator for East End Park will have to be happy with who we want to go with.

"There is no point in getting the stadium but not the club and vice-versa."
