Scott Arfield has signed a new three-year contract with Burnley.

The Scot had one year left on his initial deal but was eager to extend his stay after helping take the club back into the Barclays Premier League.

The 25-year-old, who was formerly a midfielder with Falkirk, joined Burnley last summer on a free transfer and scored nine goals in 49 appearances for the side.

"We had a great year last season and this is a club is going in the right direction so I'm made up to be a part of that," he said. "I felt like I was getting back to my best last season and a massive factor behind that was because I was enjoying my football and I felt I could express myself."
