Jason Roberts, a Laurent Koscielny own goal, and strikes from Mikele Leigertwood and Noel Hunt got the hosts off the a flying start before Walcott reduced the leeway just on half-time.
Olivier Giroud just after the hour and Koscielny in the 89th minute brought Arsenal within a goal and six minutes into injury time Carl Jenkinson levelled after a Walcott shot was blocked.
