ALEKSANDAR TONEV has been hit with a notice of complaint by the SFA for allegedly having racially abused Shay Logan in last weekend's game against Aberdeen.

The case will be heard at Hampden on Thursday, October 9, and the Bulgarian has until next Friday to respond to the complaint.

Tonev has already assured Celtic boss Ronny Deila he did not make the remarks alleged by the Dons defender in the second half of the match at Celtic Park.

The Hoops boss insisted he believes his player, who he used as a substitute in Thursday's Europa League draw with Salzburg.

Police Scotland launched an inquiry into the incident, but Logan would not make a statement to them.

He did, however, co-operate with an SFA investigation, along with Dons skipper, Mark Reynolds - who, along with Logan, reported the matter to ref Bobby Madden during the match - and manager Derek McInnes.

Having studied all the available evidence, including submissions from Celtic, SFA compliance officer, Vincent Lunny, has now decided to issue the notice of complaint, citing an alleged breach of Disciplinary Rule 202: Excessive Misconduct by the use of offensive, insulting and abusive language of a racist nature.
