First, though, he will attempt to jettison a clutch of under-performing players who he believes have contributed to the ongoing mediocrity at Pittodrie.
It has been clear for much of the campaign that several members of the squad have been found wanting on a number of fronts: technique, desire, drive and a will to win, particularly when the chips are down. Never was this more apparent than in the Scottish Cup semi-final humbling by Hibernian, a game that was a final chance for many.
