FORMER Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc has signed for English Premier League new boys Bournemouth.

The now 35-year-old needed only one day to secure a club after being officially freed by Southampton on Monday.

Boruc spent most of last season on loan at Bournemouth and kept 18 clean sheets for his team as they won the Championship.

The Pole remains a cult hero with the Celtic supporters five years after he left Glasgow and they will be pleased their former hero will be in the Premier League for one more season at least.

"I didn't think that (promotion would be possible) when I signed the (first) contract," said Boruc on his club's website. "But, as soon as I came here, I saw a bunch of lads who were really working hard and they had their minds on football.

"They knew what they wanted to achieve and the manager has put in some great work. After a couple of games I realised we could do something and we had the belief to achieve it.

"In my life, I've never seen a group who have worked so hard and been as professional as possible. It's probably the first season I've seen what it is to be a professional footballer from the way they are on the training ground to everything else."

Boruc played 221 games for Celtic over a five-year period which saw him win six trophies including three league titles.
