Fraser Forster: A touch hesitant and could have done better at Andrei Finonchenko's opener. Had no chance with Sergei Khizhnichenko's header for the second. 6/10.
Mikael Lustig: Given the nod at full-back as Adam Matthews recovered from injury, he produced a reasonable shift before being replaced by the Welshman with around 20 minutes to go. 6.
Steven Mouyokolo: Partnered for the first time with Virgil van Dijk at central defence and a lack of understanding between the pair proved to be a problem. Could not prevent the second goal. 5.
Virgil van Dijk: Looked far from assured in the heart of defence on what was his European debut for the Hoops as the home side twice breached the rearguard. 5.
Emilio Izaguirre: A busy shift up and down the flanks resulted in some decent deliveries into the box but not the best defensive display. 6.
James Forrest: Caused problems in front of goal and should have hauled Celtic level with a point-blank header that was saved by the home goalkeeper. 6.
Scott Brown: An assured and energetic performance in the middle of the park from the Hoops skipper, who attempted to lead by example. 7.
Joe Ledley: A no-frills performance but a solid enough display from the Welsh midfielder. 6.
Charlie Mulgrew: Unfortunate not to make more of an impact from set-pieces and was also denied a goal with a decent volley. 6.
Kris Commons: Celtic's biggest threat in front of goal, Commons caused plenty of problems and was denied by the crossbar in the first half. 7.
Georgios Samaras: Carved out a number of half chances but could not find the goal to hand Celtic a lifeline ahead of the return leg in Glasgow. 6.
Adam Matthews (for Lustig, 67): Recovering from injury and failed to make his mark on the game.
Amido Balde (for Izaquirre, 82): Not enough time to make a major impact.
