The answer to who will win the Championship may well be blowing in the wind.

A day which could have gone so wrong for Hamilton, the leaders, ended with them extending their lead to six points thanks to a freak gale at Cowdenbeath and a freak goal in Dundee.

Hamilton turned around a two-goal deficit at Central Park to win 4-2 after adopting a shoot-on-sight policy with a strong wind at their backs. Such a scenario had looked unlikely as the Lanarkshire side toiled for much of the first half with Nathanial Wedderburn and Lewis Milne giving Cowdenbeath a healthy advantage.

But Hamilton were much more purposeful in the second half and hit the home side with three goals in a five-minute spell to turn the game.

Jesus Garcia Tena thumped a shot over Thomas Flynn from distance and, before Cowdenbeath knew what had hit them, Darian McKinnon prodded home a second goal. Zigi Gordon then put Hamilton in front and Tony Andreu sealed it with a fourth goal near the end.

Dundee lost ground when they could only draw 1-1 at home to Falkirk when Luke Leahy scored in injury-time.

In truth, the Falkirk substitute knew little about the goal as the ball struck his head to bounce past Kyle Letheren in a crowded penalty area.

He later joked it was a "cultured finish," something that could not be said about an earlier attempt when he sent a shot skywards when the goal was at his mercy.

But few could argue that Falkirk were worthy of a point as Letheren was the busier goalkeeper and both Phil Roberts and Rory Loy had a frustrating afternoon trying to get the better of him.

Dundee led at half-time when Ryan Conroy, restored to penalty duties, beat Michael McGovern from the spot after Will Vaulks had handled Peter MacDonald's shot.

Dumbarton clambered away from Livingston with a 3-1 win at Almondvale after a spectacular goal from Marc McNulty had put the home side in front. Andy Barrowman struck the woodwork before Dumbarton equalised just before half time through Mitch Megginson.

Conor McDonald fouled Paul McGinn in the penalty area providing Chris Turner the opportunity to convert from the spot and give Dumbarton the lead before substitute Bryan Prunty completed the scoring.

A 64th-minute goal from Andy Kirk and some excellent goalkeeping from Scott Bain gave Alloa Athletic a 1-0 win over Raith Rovers in Paul Hartley's 100th game in charge.

Queen of the South beat bottom-of-the-table Morton 2-0 with first-half goals from Gavin Reilly and Ian McShane.
