SKY Bet Championship winners Bournemouth have been linked with a move for Celtic player Charlie Mulgrew in the summer.

The Dean Court club stunned English football when they landed the second tier title for the first time ever on Saturday.

Eddie Howe, the Cherries manager, is reported to be interested in signing Scotland internationalist Mulgrew as he prepares for the Premier League next season.

The 29-year-old has been sidelined with a knee injury since December, but has returned to training and is close to a first team return.

The former Southend and Wolves player has a year remaining on his current four year contract.

Mulgrew can play in a variety of positions in defence and midfield and Howe is believed to have been monitoring his progress for some time.

Meanwhile, Nadir Ciftci has stressed he is happy at Dundee United despite speculation linking him with a move to Celtic.

The Turkish striker has been outstanding for the Tannadice club this season.

However, the 23-year-old, who has one year remaining on his current contract, has stressed he is committed to the Tangerines.

He said: "I'm here right now and I have one more year left. I'm happy to stay if that's what happens.

"I'm not looking at anything else this summer. The only thing I'll be looking forward to is coming back for pre-season."
