MANCHESTER CITY have halved their losses for a second consecutive year with the club confident they will break even as early as next season and comply with UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules.

City recorded a £51.6m loss last season, down from £97.9m in 2012 and £197.5m the previous season. Turnover was a record high of £271m, up from £231m, and is the second-highest in the Premier League. "Growing revenues and controlled expenses are bringing the club to break even in the immediate future and profitability thereafter," said chief executive Ferran Soriano.

City will have additional income next season from new commercial contracts, around £25m extra from domestic television deals, and more money from the Champions League, having qualified for the knock-out stages for the first time.
