Paddy Cregg has assured his St Johnstone team-mates that their recent successes over Celtic proves they are good enough to progress in the Europa League this season.

The midfielder, who has signed a new deal to remain at McDiarmid Park, admits the lure of a Europa League second qualifying round tie with either Irish club Crusaders or Rosenborg of Norway made staying in Perth an easy decision. And now he is determined to enjoy the game.

"We would much rather have a Scandinavian team than one further away," he said. "You would expect Rosenborg to beat Crusaders and they will have played a lot of games before they face us but I don't see any reason why we shouldn't beat them. The way we have to look at it is, 'Would Celtic beat Rosenborg?'. I think they would yet we managed to beat Celtic twice last season."
