Kris Commons threw his boots into the Celtic fans following the 2-0 Scottish Premiership win at Hamilton but manager Ronny Deila is adamant the midfielder is staying at least until the end of the season.
It was rumoured that the 31-year-old would be playing his last game for the champions at New Douglas Park, where the visitors won courtesy of goals from defender Adam Matthews and midfielder Liam Henderson.
Amid an impasse over a new contract Commons has been linked with a move to Bolton, managed by former Parkhead manager Neil Lennon.
The Celtic boss denied hearing anything from Bolton and joked when asked about the player's gesture, saying "he needs to get some new ones."
However, he went on to stress that Commons is going nowhere in the transfer window and claimed he would have the last say in the decision.
"He will not go," said Deila. "I have said many times before, he will not go.
"We are going to keep all the players we have here for the rest of the season. He is going to stay. It is not easy to replace Kris Commons.
"It will not be taken out of my hands. It is not money in this, this is a decision we will take together.
"So he needs new boots. It is going to be expensive for him."
The Norwegian denied any interest in Wigan midfielder Shaun Maloney, a former Celtic player but admitted that Maccabi Tel Aviv winger Tal Ben Haim was a target.
He said: "He is one of many names we are talking about, but there is a long way from there to a signing."
Deila has captured Dundee United winger Gary Mackay-Steven on a pre-contract agreement which will see the 24-year-old arrive at Parkhead in the summer.
Asked if there was a possibility of the Scotland cap coming in the transfer window - United are reportedly looking for a fee of £250,000 - he said: "I think Dundee United want to keep him.
"It is the same situation (as Commons) and football is more and more like that now, players are coming out of contracts.
"I am very pleased, he is a good football player, a good person and he suits the way we play.
"He caught my eye when we beat them 6-1 at home as he caused us a lot of problems at the start of the game.
"You can see he is tricky and quick and we need pace into the team."
Deila was pleased with the Hoops' comfortable win.
He said: "It was a very tough game. They had a couple of chances but we scored two very nice goals."
Hamilton have set a deadline of midday on January 21 for applications for the managerial post vacated by Alex Neil, who departed to Norwich - with the Lanarkshire club claiming they have received around 60 applications so far.
Player/interim boss Martin Canning insists he has not made up his mind whether he will apply or not.
He said: "I don't know. I haven't had time to sit down with my wife and talk about it.
"I couldn't have been more proud of the boys because it is unsettling for them not knowing what is happening, but they are still prepared to put in the shift they did today.
"But I'm going day to day until I find out any different."
