DOUGIE IMRIE has signed a new one-year deal with Hamilton Accies and is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Alex Neil and Martin Canning into a coaching role.

The 31-year-old forward is already looking after the Under-17s and is currently working his way through his coaching badges.

Imrie signed the deal yesterday as Accies also tied up youngsters Greg Docherty, Darren Lyon, Craig Watson, Andy Ryan and Aldin El Zubaidi.

He said: "I have signed a deal for another year and I'm happy with that. The club has been good with me because I'm looking after the 17s and they have let me go through my coaching badges.

"Getting into coaching is something I want to do when I'm finished playing and hopefully it can be with Hamilton.

"Hopefully I have a good few years left playing but I want to make sure I get the badges so that when it comes to that time I have all of my qualifications. You are better getting them done early so that you are ready."
