Dumbarton pushed Livingston deeper into the mire at the foot of the Championship with a 2-1 win at Almondvale.
The West Lothian outfit have now won only two out of 13 league matches and have failed to win in any of their last eight competitive ties.
Yet this was a game Livingston controlled in the first half, and they broke the deadlock thanks to a calm finish from Danny Mullen.
Dumbarton were under the cosh from the start and it was no surprise when Mullen waltzed through their defence to roll the ball into the net and put Livingston in front.
Myles Hippolyte had earlier fluffed a chance to put Livingston in front, but tamely directed his shot straight at Jamie Ewings.
The striker should have done better when he had a free header shortly afterwards, but could not trouble the Dumbarton goalkeeper.
Gary Glen then came close to a second when his header came down off the underside of the crossbar before being cleared.
Dumbarton eventually turned the tide after 62 minutes when Garry Fleming pounced on a loose ball at a corner and fired high into the net to equalise. Eight minutes later, Mitch Megginson slotted home the winner as the Sons held on for an important three points.
In the Fife derby at Starks Park, Raith Rovers held off Cowdenbeath 2-1 to keep in touch with the leading pack. Remarkably, this was only their first home victory since August and, typically, they made it difficult for themselves.
It was all pretty tentative in the first half - Jason Thomson came closest in the early stages, but their frontline lacked any real punch.
Cowdenbeath sensed their hosts were toiling and Craig Sutherland was just inches too high with a decent effort.
The Blue Brazil took a deserved lead ten minutes from half-time when Kudus Oyenuga found the net with a shot from just inside the area after good work from Sutherland.
But Raith looked a different outfit after half-time. Kevin Moon thumped home the equaliser early in the second half before Christian Nade scored with a close range effort 20 minutes from time.
