Dundee 0 Raith Rovers 0

Dundee last night played in a rearranged league match with Raith Rovers.

It gave the home side a one-point lead in the SPFL Championship and a good deal of frustration.

The fixture had been billed as an opportunity for the Dens Park side to open up some daylight between them and title rivals Hamilton Academical. That ambition would remain unfulfilled after Raith drew the curtains - fending off the advances of Dundee's attacking players to leave the Tayside club with a narrow lead in the title race, with just eight matches to go.

The first opportunity came after 14 minutes when Willie Dyer raced down the left and crossed into the box for Steven Doris. The Dundee striker shot early but the effort was held comfortably by Lee Robinson, the Raith goalkeeper.

The response from the visitors - themselves just seven points above the relegation play-off place - was a speculative shot from Greig Spence and a free-kick from John Baird which flashed past a post.

Dundee had to rely on their goalkeeper Kyle Letheren after 29 minutes when Joe Cardle's cross was met with a fierce header from Grant Anderson, but Letheren made an impressive stop. He then watched as Paul Lawson's acrobatic effort went over the bar.

The home side raised the standard of their performance after the break an put Raith under sustained pressure.

Martin Boyle had a low shot saved, Jim McAlister lifted another effort over the crossbar, while substitute Ryan Conroy flicked a header narrowly wide of goal in the last 10 minutes as Raith held on for a draw.
