DUNDEE manager Paul Hartley last night revealed he hopes to strike a deal with English Premiership side Crystal Palace to take talented youngsters on loan to Dens Park next season.

Hartley held informal talks with Palace manager Alan Pardew when Dundee were down south at Selhurst Park the other week for former Dens Park keeper Julian Speroni's testimonial match.

Hartley, who has already landed a host of new faces on pre-contracts in preparation for next term, insists Pardew is in favour of the idea of loaning out some of his rising stars who could benefit Dundee as they aim to improve on last term's top-six finish.

Hartley said: "I had a good conversation with Alan Pardew when we were down there recently.

"We spoke about players coming in on loan, younger ones that could do us a turn.

"I know their assistant Keith Millen from working with him at Bristol City so had a good chat with them both.

"Alan sent players up to Scotland before when he was at Newcastle, the lad Paul Dummett and Conor Newton did very well for St Mirren .

"It worked for them because they went back and had learned from the experience.

"So I think he's keen for that to happen again. He likes the Scottish game. He thinks it's a good environment for players to learn.

"I asked him about players and he was very receptive to it, so we'll keep in touch.

"When the season gets closer I'll be asking him if there's anyone they can give us to help strengthen the areas we're looking at.

"It's a good link for us to have and hopefully something will come of it."
