St Johnstone last night completed the signing of Gary McDonald on a one-year contract, after the midfielder rejected the offer of an extension to his deal with Morecambe.

The 31-year-old joined the npower League Two club from Hamilton Academical two years ago but has returned north after he was asked to re-sign on reduced terms.

News of the arrival of McDonald, who started his career at Kilmarnock, was followed by confirmation that Frazer Wright and Gary Miller have both signed new one-year contracts with St Johnstone.

Gary Deegan has agreed that he will not be back at Hibernian next season and is expected to pursue a return to England. He joined the club from Coventry City.
