Edu misses the cut for World Cup

Maurice Edu has been left out of the United States' World Cup squad, despite making the preliminary group of 30.

The former Rangers midfielder missed the cut after head coach Juergen Klinsmann trimmed his squad to 23.

Edu - who played at Ibrox between 2008 and 2012 - is on loan at MLS side Philadelphia Union from Stoke City. The 28-year-old has made only one substitute appearance since joining the English side and earlier spent time on loan at Bursaspor in Turkey.
