Europe key to Parkhead side

TRYING to gauge just how ready a team is for the new campaign based on how they fared in pre-season is a bit like looking at yesterday's weather and guessing what it will be like tomorrow.

It might inform your opinion but you can't say with any certainty until it actually happens.

Pre-season is the only time when results, by and large, do not really matter. Which is probably just as well for Celtic. In six games, including Saturday's 1-1 draw with Internazionale, Neil Lennon's side have won only once, scoring just three goals and conceding eight. At any other time of year statistics like that would be a cause for alarm but in the summer, when the onus is on players getting their fitness levels up and managers trying out different ideas, they are of secondary importance.
