Partick Thistle maintained their unblemished record at the top with a crushing 4-0 win over Hamilton at Firhill to exact revenge for their midweek cup loss to the same opposition.
Steven Craig, a first-half substitute for the injured Kris Doolan, helped himself to a double and Sean Welsh and Steven Lawless were also on target as Hamilton wilted in the second half.
It took a superb double save from Scott Fox to keep out Hamilton's new on-loan signing Stevie May in the first half but, from the moment Welsh forced home the first goal from close range shortly before half-time, it was heading Partick's way.
Craig converted a Chris Erskine cross to double their advantage and Lawless timed his run to perfection to fire home the third. The final goal came when Hamilton were caught out at the back and Kevin Cuthbert's attempted clearance thumped off Craig.
On a day when First Division teams were sloppy from the penalty spot, Dunfermline took full advantage to beat Raith Rovers 3-1 in the Fife derby.
Brian Graham saw an early spot kick saved by Paul Gallacher and Dunfermline heeded the warning. Ryan Wallace struck a superb opening goal before Josh Falkingham headed in a Joe Cardle cross to make it 2-0 before the break.
Graham headed Raith back into the game but almost immediately Andy Barrowman headed Dunfermline's third to take the game out of Raith's reach.
Archie Campbell scored a hat-trick as Morton beat bottom-of-the-table Dumbarton 3-0 at Cappielow. In an eventful game for the player, he also struck the post in the first half and, in the final minutes, struck the underside of the crossbar from the penalty spot.
He had proved more accurate from the mark earlier in the game, sending Stephen Grindlay the wrong way for Morton's second goal. His pace caused problems all day and he killed off Dumbarton with a third goal from Jim Creaney's slack pass with 14 minutes left.
Dumbarton started the game well enough and Jim Lister shot wide from good position before Derek Gaston palmed a Scott Agnew effort for a corner, but they have now given up 13 goals in four league games and scored only once.
Marc McKenzie was guilty of missing a penalty when he was denied by Kenny Arthur as Cowdenbeath won 3-0 at Airdrie United. He made amends by scoring his side's third goal late in the game, though by then the points were secure.
Kyle Miller gave Cowdenbeath a fifth-minute lead after Scott Linton had set him up and Colin Cameron's side always looked more threatening in front of goal.
Cameron himself was denied by a stunning save from Arthur.
Airdrie lost Marc Warren to a red card for violent conduct in the second half and Cowdenbeath drove home the advantage. Lewis Coult adding a second at close range before McKenzie made it three.
