Dumbarton booked their place in next season's First Division with a game to spare thanks to a 3-2 win over Cowdenbeath at Central Park.

The victors looked doomed at Christmas, but their fortunes were transformed by the arrival of Ian Murray as manager.

A final-day battle to avoid the relegation play-off now awaits the Fifers, who lie ninth, a point behind Dunfermline Athletic and with a vastly inferior goal difference.

The day started well for Colin Cameron's side as they took a 15th-minute lead through on-loan striker Craig Moore. The same player could have added a second soon afterwards, but instead Dumbarton equalised.

Scott Agnew spotted Thomas Flynn off his line and lobbed the keeper from 35 yards. Minutes later Dumbarton went ahead when Jim Lister headed home from close range. Agnew got a third goal for the visitors before the break, tucking away a penalty after Cameron fouled Steven MacDougall inside the box.

Kyle Miller pulled a goal back for Cowdenbeath with minutes to go but it wasn't enough. They visit Hamilton next Saturday while Dunfermline are at home to relegated Airdrie United.

Two Stevie May goals were the difference as Hamilton Academical defeated Greenock Morton 2-0 at Cappielow. The on-loan striker netted either side of the interval to take him clear as the division's top scorer.

Airdrie United gave a debut to 14-year-old Jordan Allan in a 2-0 home defeat to Livingston. Craig Barr put Livingston ahead after 25 minutes. Iain Russell missed a second-half penalty, but Jesus Garcia Tena made the points safe with a fine 25-yard free-kick.

Raith Rovers and Falkirk fought out a 0-0 draw at Stark's Park. Falkirk had the better chances, but could not give Gary Holt his first win as boss.
