Queen of the South have confirmed the appointment of James Fowler as manager.

The former Kilmarnock midfielder had been in charge of the club on a temporary basis since Jim McIntyre and assistant Billy Dodds left to take over at Ross County earlier this month.

Queens have taken four points from Fowler's three Scottish Championship games in charge, following up a victory over Hibernian with defeat at Cowdenbeath on Saturday.

Fowler moved to Palmerston in a player-coach role in the summer after making more than 400 appearances for Killie.

The 33-year-old said, who has played nine games this season, has been gearing up for the role on a full-time basis.

"I felt when I was given the opportunity that I had to work towards that and I feel that I've done that with the preparations and stuff," he said. "So not too much will change."
