Francomb signs Norwich deal as Sproule set to stay at Hibs

GEORGE FRANCOMB has signed a new one-year contract with Norwich City, reducing the chances of a return to Hibernian, the club he joined on loan last season.

However, Ivan Sproule is likely to play at Easter Road again, after his agent denied the winger was about to join St Johnstone.

Francomb, 20, played for Norwich against Celtic in Adam Drury's testimonial on Tuesday.

He said: "I've had half a season up at Hibs and now I'm back I can't wait to get on with pre-season."It was brilliant for me to play up at Hibs – it was a completely different environment; the season before I did it with Barnet, so it wasn't too different to that, just on a bigger scale."Steve Lomas, the manager of St Johnstone, this week confirmed his interest in Sproule, but the 31-year-old – in his second spell at East Road – has a year left on his Hibs contract and his agent is confident he will see it out. Clive Hart, Sproule's representative, said: "Ivan will be back there next season. He was involved in virtually every game this season and there are no plans to talk with Pat Fenlon or Hibs about his future at the club."
