Celtic this week announced they would take on the Spanish giants in Philadelphia on August 11, seven days after the kick-off of the new SPL season.
Last year, Neil Doncaster, the chief executive of the SPL, announced teams could postpone one match early in the season in order to play lucrative friendlies as a "one-off solution" to issues arising from a July 23 start. But the SPL yesterday announced a partial extension of the policy two days after Celtic confirmed the friendly.
