Jim Goodwin, the St Mirren captain, has become the first player in the SPFL Premiership this season to incur a ban for breaching the Scottish Football Association's disciplinary points barrier.

The midfielder was called "a ghost" by Derek Adams, the Ross County manager, after avoiding a booking during St Mirren's victory over the Highland side on Sunday. He also avoided punishment for an alleged handball in the box.

However, Goodwin has still been shown six yellow cards this season - his latest coming in the win over Partick Thistle - and will be sidelined for the visit of Hibernian on Saturday.
