THE only career advice James Milner feels qualified to offer John Guidetti is to tone down his goal celebrations.

With nine goals in his first 10 appearances, Celtic's Swedish striker has made quite an impression since arriving on loan at Parkhead this summer.

But the England international - a friend and club-mate at Manchester City - admits the Swede is fast approaching a career crossroads over whether he wants to make his arrangement a permanent one.

While Celtic are desperate to keep him, French giants Marseille were this week linked with a move for the £5 million-rated striker, whose City contract expires immediately after his season-long loan in Scotland.

"I've spoken to John a few times since he went up to Celtic," said Milner, part of the England side that overcame Scotland 3-1 this week. "The boys at City have been watching him to see how he's getting on.

"We're missing him in the dressing room, so everyone is keeping an eye on him and hoping he does well.

"He's a great character, but he can get carried away so we have to bring him down and give him a hammering. He's scoring a lot of goals, but we've told him to calm his celebrations down.

"Having said that, I'm sure he'll get plenty more. I don't know what John is thinking, what he wants or if he'd get games if he comes back to City.

"He's had two loan moves and has scored a lot of goals. I knew he'd do very well at Celtic because he's a goalscorer and a bubbly character.

"But it will be up to John in the end, he wants football and he needs it at his age. Whether that's at City, up here at Celtic, or elsewhere, that'll be his decision.

"There's a lot of quality at Man City and it's very difficult to get into the team. So the younger lads need to go out and play football games."

Fraser Forster, meanwhile, said it would only have been natural for Barclays Premier League sides to have been monitoring Celtic skipper Scott Brown.

The 29-year-old midfielder this week inked a new four-year extension to his current deal, dashing the hopes of clubs like Crystal Palace, who were reported to be lining up a January move for the current Scotland captain.

"Is Scott good enough for the Premiership? Yes, he's a fantastic player and you can see what he does for Scotland," said Southampton goalkeeper Forster. "He does it every week for Celtic as well - when he's not in the team you notice how much they miss him.

"I can't speak highly enough of him as a player. He was fantastic to me over the four years I was at Celtic and it's no surprise in the least that he's decided to stay with the club."

The England man added. "Scott has been fantastic for Celtic. As well as being a top, top player he's a real leader. You can tell how much he loves being Celtic captain."
