Hamilton Academical insist their plastic pitch will not prevent them from playing in the SPFL Premiership, should they clinch promotion.

As it stands, all four clubs with artificial surfaces in the second tier - Falkirk, Queen of the South and Alloa also play on artificial surfaces - will have to apply by March 31 for permission to compete in Scotland's top division.

A club statement read: "The minimum acceptable standard would be a FIFA 2- star pitch; our pitch already meets this requirement. The club therefore see no issues to prevent this and are confident that our application to play in the Premiership will be approved."
