Dundee boss Paul Hartley reckons they have the toughest task of all trying to make the top-six - but will go hell for leather to try and achieve it in the coming weeks.

Hartley, whose side take on high-flying Aberdeen in Saturday's crunch re-arranged televised clash, have targeted a finish in the top half of the table in their manager's first full season at the Dens Park helm following promotion from the Championship last summer.

The Dark Blues sit seventh in the table just two points behind Tayside rivals St Johnstone and their hopes of getting where they want to be will rest on the next five upcoming games before the split.

Hartley said: "It's a hard finish for us. Looking at it, I think we have the most difficult run-in. We have to try to get ourselves into it - we can't rely on anybody else.

"We just have to try and get as many points as we can in the five games. And if we haven't done enough it's down to us. They are all tough games but we have three at home against Aberdeen, Celtic and Dundee United. They don't come any harder than that and we also have Inverness and St Johnstone away.

"If we can take it into the last game at St Johnstone, that's great. That's all we can ask of the players, to give ourselves a fighting chance. If we get into the top-six, great. If we don't then hopefully we can still finish the season as strongly as we can."
