Haynes: I'll be whatever kind of player Hibs need me to be

New Hibernian forward Danny Haynes has told boss Terry Butcher he will be whatever kind of player he needs him to be.

The Notts County frontman's switch was one of three loan deals signed off by the former England captain on transfer deadline day as he joined Sunderland winger Duncan Watmore and Arsenal defender Daniel Boateng at Easter Road.

The 26-year-old's CV shows previous spells with Ipswich, Millwall, Bristol City, Barnsley and Charlton and includes 48 goals netted from 277 career appearances.

But Haynes claims he is just as comfortable operating in midfield as he is up front and has pledged to play where ever Butcher wants him.

He told HibernianTV: "I've not really got a preferred position. I can play as one of a front three, I've played up front on my own before and I've played on the wing in midfield before.

"I have played everywhere, so I'll just do what the manager tells me.

"I can score goals but it's just as important to set them up and I can do both."

All three loan deals are set to expire at the end of the season but Haynes has not ruled out a longer stay.

He said: "This is a massive club and the SPL is a different challenge for me. I'm looking forward to it - I'm quite excited.

"Would I like to stay beyond the summer? I don't see why not. The people are friendly up here. I never thought I'd come up here to Scotland but when the opportunity came up, I had to to grab it with both hands.

"If it progresses to something more then we will look at it at the end of the season."
