Houston in talks over Hearts job as Thomson rejoins Hibs

Peter Houston admits he has held talks with Hearts amid suggestions that he will see off competition from John Robertson and Derek McInnes to become the club's next manager.

The 54-year-old has spoken to managing director David Southern and director of football John Murray about a vacancy that was created when John McGlynn stepped down just over a week ago.

Houston, who left Dundee United by mutual consent in January, arrived as a coach at Tynecastle under Jim Jefferies in 1995 before going on to become assistant to Craig Levein between 2000 and 2004.
