Ally McCoist had mixed emotions after watching Rangers return to winning ways with a 4-2 victory over Berwick at Ibrox.
Andy Little claimed a hat-trick and David Templeton was also on the score-sheet as the Light Blues stretched their lead at the top of the Irn-Bru Third Division to 19 points in front of a crowd of 44,976.
However, the Rangers boss is unhappy with the second half goals netted by Ross Gray and Fraser McLaren which briefly raised Berwick's hopes of a comeback.
And he also feels his own side should have been more clinical in front of goal.
McCoist said: "There were three points, four goods goals and far more plusses. There were negatives too and I was really disappointed with the two goals we lost.
"Andy Little didn't defend the front post area well enough at the corner. We spoke about Berwick's corners and set-plays from that side.
"But it's difficult to criticise somebody who leaves with the match ball. There were positives and, at times, some of the football was good and we certainly had more of a cutting edge to our play today. But we could have and should have had more goals."
Elgin's late fightback earned them a share of the points last week and McCoist was not surprised to see Berwick claw themselves back into this game.
He added: "I am believing everything that's happening at the moment. As disappointed as I was when it went 3-2, I could believe it. There is not a lot shocking us at the moment. Believe me, it was believable."
McCoist had some sympathy for Francisco Sandaza, who was involved in much of the action but could not find the back of the net.
The Spanish striker is seeking a return to form after a lengthy spell out of action with a fractured cheekbone and looked desperate to add to his one goal for Rangers so far.
McCoist said: "He did everything apart from score. I felt for him in terms of not getting a goal but that was the only thing lacking from his overall performance.
"The argument is that a centre-forward should be scoring goals. But, that said, his contribution was very valuable to the team.
"You can see him becoming just like his old self. He makes things happen, he was involved in two or three of the goals and I was delighted with his performance outside of not scoring."
There was concern for Rangers when Chris Hegarty was forced out of the action after pulling up but McCoist does not expect a spell on the sidelines for the defender.
He said: "Hegarty's thigh went into spasm, which is a new one on me, but he seems absolutely fine. He was in seeing the doctor and we will get him in tomorrow morning to have a look as well."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
