Jim Jefferies, the Dunfermline Athletic manager, is certain that Callum Morris is capable of stepping up to the SPFL Premiership.

The 24-year-old defender has impressed for the Fife side this season and is attracting interest from Aberdeen, Dundee United and Partick Thistle.

He has turned down the offer of a new contract already and seems sure to move on in the summer. That has disappointed Jefferies - the coach signed Morris, who played previously at Blyth Spartans and Hayes & Yeading - but he is sure the defender has the capacity to play at a higher level.

"He's got the potential to go and play in the Premiership, there's no doubt about that," said Jefferies. "It's just sad that we've resurrected and all we were looking for was something back. If he wants to move on, then fine."
