Junior side to support Clyde's efforts to move back into town

Clyde's plans to return to within a mile of their former Shawfield home after a near 30-year absence have moved a stage closer after members of Rutherglen Glencairn juniors agreed to support a joint venture between the clubs, writes Craig Stewart.

Clyde resided in south-west Glasgow from 1898 to 1986 before a nomadic eight-year spell that ended with a move to their current rented home of Broadwood in Cumbernauld, some 15 miles away, in 1994.

During their 18-year stay at the North Lanarkshire Council-owned facility, they have had an uneasy relationship with their landlords, and directors have long stated they wish to "establish a location in which the club can be in charge of its own destiny for the first time since selling Shawfield to the Greyhound Racing Association 70 years ago".
