Brechin City spoiled Gary Naysmith's first match in charge of East Fife by winning 3-1 win at New Bayview.

Nathan Austin struck the post for the home side in the first half, but they were left chasing the game after Andy Jackson picked his spot with a precise finish on the half-hour to put Brechin ahead.

Half-time substitute Bobby Barr doubled Brechin's lead after 54 minutes, before Ryan Stewart pulled a goal back with a glancing header in the 71st minute. However, Derek Carcary, who had also come off the Brechin bench, made sure of the points with a minute to go.

Dunfermline Athletic stretched their unbeaten run to eight games in all competitions with a convincing 3-0 victory over Arbroath at Gayfield.

The visitors were playing against a strong wind in the first half but Andy Geggan put them in front with a 12th-minute strike and Ryan Thomson doubled their advantage after 36 minutes when he headed in Ryan Wallace's cross. Josh Falkingham made sure of victory with a splendid 20-yard strike midway through the second half.

Ayr United rediscovered their winning touch with their first victory in five outings as they beat in-form Forfar Athletic at Station Park.

Kevin Kyle was a thorn in Forfar's flesh all afternoon and it was no surprise when he contributed the only goal after 62 minutes.

An early Gregor Buchanan strike gave Airdrieonians hope that they could beat Stenhousemuir at Ochilview to record their first away league win of the campaign. But while home side were frustrated time and again by Daniel Rogers in the Airdrie goal, Sean Dickson equalised with eight minutes remaining and the match finished 1-1.
