League 2 round-up

Arbroath went top of League 2 after edging Albion Rovers 1-0 at Gayfield Park.

Paul McManus blazed over in the first minute before a spell of pressure which saw team-mate Bobby Linn denied first by goalkeeper Neil Parry and then the woodwork. Paul Sheerin's men found the winner when McManus made amends for his earlier miss after getting free in the box on 66 minutes.

Berwick Rangers climbed up to fourth with a 3-2 win at East Fife. A first-time Lee Currie curler from outside the box gave Berwick the advantage before a headed own-goal from Allan Walker made it 2-0. The Fifers fought back with an Alan Cook penalty and Stephen Campbell strike, but David Gold got the winner in the final minute.

East Stirlingshire climbed off the foot of the table with a 2-1 win at home to Elgin City. Craig Tully's men went in front through Chris Townsley before David McKenna robbed visiting goalkeeper Michael Fraser and walked the ball into an open net for 2-0. Dennis Wyness grabbed a consolation with the last kick of the game.

Queen's Park sealed their first points of the season with a 1-0 win at 10-man Annan. Shaun Fraser got the goal, lobbing Annan goalkeeper Alex Mitchell as half-time approached. Peter Watson saw red for a second bookable offence on the hour mark.

Clyde's match against Montrose at Broadwood was postponed due to the home side's Challenge Cup tie with Rangers tomorrow, frustrating for Montrose, who went of the table after their opening day 4-1 win over East Stirlingshire.
