CRAIG LEVEIN will discover early next week whether he is to remain as manager of Scotland.

Levein's job is under threat after a poor start to the World Cup qualifying campaign which has left Scotland bottom of their group with two points from four matches.

Qualification for Brazil 2014 already looks an impossible task and Levein met with Scottish Football Association chief executive Stewart Regan and president Campbell Ogilvie to discuss his position.

Levein said on a radio programme: "I'll find out one way or the other early next week. The squad for the Luxembourg game will be named on Tuesday and there will be an announcement before then. I'm proud to be the manager of Scotland and want to continue in the job."

Scotland travel to Luxembourg for a friendly on November 14 and don't have another World Cup qualifier until they host Wales on March 22.

Levein, who took over in December 2009, had already been under pressure after Scotland drew their opening Hampden qualifiers against Serbia and Macedonia, and away defeats to Wales and Belgium leave him with an uncertain future.
