The defender is a boyhood fan of the Ibrox club and once imagined himself leading the Glasgow side out at Ibrox. This weekend has afforded him the next best thing.
The 26-year-old will suspend his affection for Rangers for one day and is well aware of what the SPFL League 1 fixture means to his own club.
Yet this week that could not prevent him from taking satisfaction from the prospect of sharing a pitch with the team he followed as a boy.
"I was a Rangers fan when I was younger and it was always my dream to lead them out at Ibrox," said McKeown.
"It is almost coming true as I am leading the Stranraer blues out against Rangers this weekend. My family will be there and they will be supporting Stranraer which will be strange as they normally support Rangers."
