The Dens Park side opened the campaign as title favourites but have won just one of their league matches so far and required extra time to squeeze through two cup ties with Forfar Athletic, the latest coming in the second round of the Scottish League Cup on Tuesday night. Those are results which suggest Dundee are far from comfortable after landing in the Championship following relegation from the top flight.
Such form has not deflated Lockwood's confidence, though, and he believes his side could well prove their quality tonight. "We feel as though it's coming," said the defender. "It was a struggle against Forfar but on another night we could easily have been out of sight early on with the amount of chances we created. All it takes is an early goal and, hopefully, we wouldn't look back."
The Englishman feels that his side's stature has made them a bigger target for rival teams. "We are a scalp for others this season," he said. "It can take a bit of time to get used to that but I think we all know that we're there to be shot at."
