Mikael Lustig is a major doubt for Celtic's trip to Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.
The Hoops right-back injured his hip on international duty with Sweden last week and may even miss the home Champions League clash with Ajax next Tuesday night.
However, midfielders Joe Ledley and Tom Rogic are back from their respective groin injuries and James Forrest is expected to be fit again after a combination of sciatica and a virus kept him out of Scotland's final World Cup qualifier against Croatia on Tuesday night.
Derek Boerrigter (ankle), Adam Matthews (shoulder) and Steve Moyoukolo (Achilles) remain out.
Meanwhile, Paul Cairney and Danny Handling could be passed fit to start on the bench for Hibernian against Celtic.
Winger Handling has not featured since bruising a bone on his foot against Ross County in August, while midfielder Cairney has not played at all this season as a result of a troublesome ankle injury but both men are now back in boss Pat Fenlon's squad after featuring for the Leith outfit's Under-20s side in recent weeks.
However, Alan Maybury (thigh), Tim Clancy (groin), Alex Harris (ankle), Jordon Forster (groin) and Sam Stanton (hip) remain out.
Provisional squad (Hibs): Williams, Nelson, Stevenson, Hanlon, Thomson, Robertson, Craig, Taiwo, Zoubir, Collins, Heffernan, Vine, Caldwell, Tudur Jones, McGivern, McPake, Forster, Murdoch.
Provisional squad (Celtic): Forster, Lustig, Van Dijk, Mulgrew, Ambrose, Izaguirre, Ledley, Rogic, Pukki, Commons, Forrest, Kayal, Brown, Samaras, Stokes, Atajic, McGeouch, Balde, Biton, Zaluska, Fisher.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
