JOSH MAGENNIS, Aberdeen's Northern Ireland striker, yesterday signed a new 12-month deal at Pittodrie.

The 22-year-old – reinstated to a striking role after a failed attempt by Craig Brown, the Pittodrie club's previous manager, to convert him into a full-back – was keen to remain at the club under new manager, Derek McInnes.

He said: "I have never hidden my desire to remain at Aberdeen so I am delighted to put pen to paper on a contract extension. It is a great club, with a unique set of fans and I hope next season I can repay the faith shown in me by everyone associated with Aberdeen FC."
