Manager Smith names himself on bench as Dundee's woes mount

Barry Smith, the Dundee manager, has been forced to pull his boots back on again just days before his injury-hit squad prepare for their return to the SPL.

Smith has not played since October 2010 when he was with Brechin City but he will be on the bench for tonight's League Cup tie away to Peterhead after having registered as a player.

He said: "We really are down to the bare bones and it's the last thing we need going into the new season.
