McCoist denies Rangers have discipline issue as ‘daftness’ wipes out his defensive options

Ally McCoist, the Rangers manager, has denied that his players have a discipline problem despite two red cards and nine bookings in their first four matches of the season.

Rangers will face Maribor in the Europa League play-off round with Steven Whittaker and Sasa Papac both suspended for the first leg on August 18. The £1.7 million sale of Madjid Bougherra, who would also have faced suspension, to Qatar side Lekhwiya yesterday means that only one of the back four who faced Malmo on Wednesday will be available against Maribor in the opening leg in Slovenia.
