Ally McCoist wants his Rangers players to bring down the curtain on 2013 with a victory against Dunfermline after dropping their first points of the season on Boxing Day.

A last-gasp 1-1 draw at the hands of Stranraer at Ibrox left the Light Blues' 100 per cent Scottish League One record at an end.

The result also prevented Rangers from claiming their 21st win in a row on a day when they could have had few complaints about sharing the spoils.

McCoist has now welcomed the opportunity to make amends quickly when they face their closest challengers at East End Park on Monday.

He said: "It's great in one way because it's an opportunity for us to bounce back straight away after a disappointing performance.

"We've got four days from the Stranraer game until the Dunfermline game.

"Having been in a dressing room many times myself as a player after poor results, you just want the next game as quickly as possible.

"They've got that opportunity. It will be the final game of the year and would be great to go out on a high."

Jamie Longworth struck deep into injury time for Stranraer to cancel out Lee McCulloch's first-half penalty and stun a Rangers side that had been a formidable force in the Scottish third tier this term.

McCoist added: "We are coming off the back of a really disappointing performance.

"We are looking to go and win this game but equally we are looking for a far better performance up at Dunfermline."

McCoist is expecting another physical encounter against the Pars after the last meeting between the sides proved to be a bruising experience for the Glasgow giants.

He said: "I think it's safe to say they were certainly up for the last game.

"Three of our players ended up in hospital, although that's not to say they were anything other than up for the game, of course.

"I would imagine it would be the same at Dunfermline.

"Our players will know they will be in a game and I'll make sure they are ready for the challenge."
