Kevin McDonald, the former Scotland under-21 midfielder, has signed a three-year contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers after agreeing a £750,000 move from Sheffield United.

The former Dundee player will go straight into Kenny Jackett's squad, linking up with fellow countryman Leigh Griffiths, for Saturday's match at Bristol City.

The 24-year-old playmaker made 91 appearances in two seasons at Bramall Lane and had another year to run on his contract with David Weir's side. "I have liked him for a while," Jackett said. "He has good stature, gives good presence and he's a ball player. He's two-footed and hopefully he will give us some goals from midfield."

McDonald moved to England in a £500,000 switch from Dundee to Burnley, playing in their only season in the Barclays Premier League.
