Ryan McGowan and his Australia team-mates are unfazed by the prospect of facing the Netherlands after the Dutch side's 5-1 demolition of world champions Spain.

The former Hearts defender believes Australia, who lost 3-1 in their opening Group B match against Chile, can snuff out the threat of the intimidating attacking trio of Robin van Persie, Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder.

"They're just names, it's just a guy who is very good at what he does," said McGowan. "My job, as a defender, is to try and nullify that. The boss will have a game-plan for us on Wednesday and it'll be up to us to go out and excecute it. We need to make sure that everyone back home is proud of how we've played.

"And hopefully the world will be talking about the performance and one that's shocked the World Cup."
