ALEX McLEISH will hold crunch talks with Racing Genk chiefs this week after failing to make the play-offs and admitted his time in Belgium could be over.
The former Rangers and Scotland boss was hoping to take Genk into the play-off spots, but lost to Standard Liege at the weekend to end their hopes.
And the ex-Aston Villa and Birmingham City manager McLeish will discover this week whether his adventure is over in Belgium, after taking over the club in August.
McLeish said: "After I recover from this disappointment, I will certainly have a conversation with the board.
"Maybe they want something else. I don't know.
"I can only say I've done everything to achieve our aims.
"It can be a very thin line between success and failure. I've been through this before. I've already seen great successes in my career, but also had moments like these.
"I can't blame my players because they fought like lions."
And Genk Managing Director Patrick Janssen admitted: "This is a big disappointment.
"We had hoped to get to the play-offs and we cannot ignore the fact that we have not fulfilled our ambitions."
And ominously, when quizzed about McLeish having a two year deal, he stated: "A contract is one thing...what you do with it is another matter.
"All experienced managers know this.
"We will evaluate at all levels, but it is too early to make any statements on the future of the coach."
